June is the first month of summer. The fields take on the typical golden color of the hot months, and poppies, lavender and yellow broom tinge the countryside. Bars and restaurants open their outdoor spaces and sagre and festivals animate villages and towns. Besides, June is definitely the month to be in Pisa.

January is usually one of the coldest months of the year, when sunny days alternate with snowfalls. It sees the end of the Christmas Holidays and the beginning of Carnival with its sweets and parades. It is a good month if you want to travel on a shoe-string.

October is the month when the fall starts to set in. The weather is usually still very pleasant, but some rain should be expected. However, normally, October is a great month to visit Tuscany. Don’t expect the spectacular north American foliage though! Unfortunately, we don’t get the spectacular shades of red… but we get porcini mushrooms and chestnuts!
