Hikers and nature lovers should not miss the 2009 edition of the Tuscan Coast & Islands Walking Festival. From April 3 to October 25, the Festival provides visitors to Tuscany with the opportunity to discover the six nature parks situated on the Tuscany coast or to scout out the islands within the Tuscan Archipelago.
The six nature parks will be hosting hundreds of events, spotlighting routes that boast evocative landscape and many itinerary featuring archaeological treasures and stunning natural beauty.
For those who don’t know this, the Tuscan Archipelago National Park is the largest marine park in the Mediterranean.
Environmental excursion guides will be available to accompany participants along nature-paths where they can discover interesting historical sites.
From May 2-31 the Regional Park of Migliarino, San Rossore, Massacciuccoli, near Pisa, will also be hosting fascinating excursions.
From May 10 to June 28, in the Regional Park of the Apuan Alps, you can take a peek at the area’s stunning marble caves.
From October 2-25, visitors to the Regional Park of the Maremma can take shuttles from various locations and enjoy the Mediterranean landscape with its towering cliffs and sandy beaches. Find out more about the Maremma!
